America isn't perfect. We have our hatred, and our prejudices. Our pain and our suffering. Our greed, and our selfishness.
But America has the smell of turkey around the thanksgiving dinner table. We have the super bowl with our mothers and fathers. We have the fourth of july parties in all their red white and blue glory and smoky flavors. We have Women with the rights to vote, to go school, to own property, to do anything a man can do. We have Ella Baker, Susan B. Anthony, Kate Bornstein, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., and others that made and make America better bit by bit.
So America isn't perfect. But it's my home. And a home I don't want to leave.
