Hunger for the World

I am hungry for the discomfort that means that world
is about to shake, shutter and grow a whole lot bigger.
I hunger to see new expressions of life piling up and pouring over the old.
I hunger for the shock of the new, the familiar, the misplaced and unanticipated context.
I hunger for inhibition to music the freedom to move with passion
My body thumming with ancient rhythm to become eternal living sound I hunger for embraceable melody to shimmy, shake and shine voices harmonizing and held in universal language
to travel opens the senses
for more unknown than knowing to act goes beyond senses
to make the world a better
place and humanity better grown.
I hunger for the field of sunflowers
under the peaceful blue sky
& for the people to understand you
without asking what? how? & why?
I hunger for adventure
but not necessarily the action paced kind
for the adventure of unknown, for new,
for the same sometimes.
The adventure of seeing the world
and recognizing it or not,
and adding my new adventure to
my memories of knowledge.
I hunger for stories as yet untold
I hunger for always feeling
a little hungry
a little lost
a little inarticulate
I hunger for hope
the hope that tomorrow's youth
will embrace all people regardless of
religion or skin tone.

I hunger for hope
the hope that the next generation
will hold dear our natural environment
as passionately as I do

I hunger for hope
I hunger for the uncommon moments
when my students find common ground...
Seeing and feeling beyond the spicy food,
the colorful fashion, and historic sites.
I hunger to step outside of myself
To be able to see a person
whose soul is growing and releasing
To open to the newness of my
surroundings.
I hunger for the moment,
that small spec of existence
that adds a passion, an experience
that lays yet another block
to the foundation of my spirit

Blue, green and the movement of
the everchanging face of the sea
I hunger for the reassurance
that I'll stay hungry for the
feeling of harmony in this room
I am hungry for understanding,
to know the lived experience I
sense in the wisdom present in the
cloudy brown eyes of the aging
woman sitting on the city bench,
waiting. Waiting for the young to
learn from her stories.
